Swedish immigrant Swan Turnblad became a millionaire, built a castle in Minneapolis … and then gave it all away to create a museum of Swedish art, history and culture. Completed in 1908, the castle features elaborate hand-carved woodwork; intricately painted plaster ceilings; veranda and gardens open seasonally; exhibits of traditional Swedish art forms including glasswork, wood-carving and painting; and unique shopping in the charming Museum Shop.
